The Background
Tectel SA, based in Ticino, Switzerland, is a business process outsourcing (BPO) company specializing in digital technologies and electronic document management. CEO Mirko Nesti founded the company in 1999 to improve digital transformation workflows and information security for businesses. Tectel provides various services for its customers, from digitizing medical records to valuable manuscripts dating back to the 15th century.
The Challenge
Before working with Tectel, a hospital faced challenges with having enough storage space for sensitive patient records, making accessing patient information difficult. The massive number of medical records began to take up valuable space in the hospital. The hospital couldn’t send out the files to be digitized as the data needed to stay on-site to keep it secure.

The Solution
Tectel began working with the hospital to digitize its patient records using the OPEX® Falcon+® document scanner powered by the CertainScan® intelligent document imaging software suite. Tectel initially found the Falcon+ scanner through its own research on the OPEX website after the need arose for a solution that could digitize files and improve workflows without having to transport sensitive documents out of the building. The Falcon+ scanner turned out to be the perfect on-site scanning solution placed directly inside the hospital.
Patient records are scanned on-site at the hospital each day, allowing the hospital to clear space for more patient beds. The Falcon+ scanner allows data to go directly to the client and their database, preventing sensitive information from being shared with additional parties and keeping it secure. The scanner is flexible to allow for multiple document types, sizes, and conditions to be scanned in one seamless workflow with minimal prep.
